My name is Melissa Lewis. I am an 19 year old Communication and Multimediadesign student at the Hogeschool Utrecht. I was born in The Netherlands, but I have lived in Nicaragua for 7 years. So I can speak Spanish, English and Dutch. I love to travel and discover new places.
I graduated in 2015 with my HAVO diploma. In september of 2015 I started my study at the Hogeschool Utrecht. Utrecht is also the place where I'm currently living. At my study I learned to work with adobe creative cloud. My best skills are with InDesign, Illustrator and After Effects. I am also known with Photoshop, Premiere pro and Muse.
As a designer I am interested in the storytelling behind a campaign. I like to create concepts and content. Especially for people and organisations that work to make the world a little bit better.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge" - Albert Einstein
With a group of eight people, I made three magazine's. The magazine is called "Doomsday".
This magazine is about the end of the world, and in each edition we talked about a different kind of end of the world. It sounds quite negative, but we wanted to talk about the end of the world, but in a light and fun version. To ensure people that the world isn't that bad at all.
In each edition we have a different theme based on the end of the world. We also had different roles each edition. In the first edition I was the designer. In the second edition I was the writer and in the third edition I was in charge of the images.
Our client was Foooty for this project. I started the Project Kick Foooty around the world with my project group. We had to create a campaign for Foooty. Foooty is a ball that you can easily put together and carry it on the way. It fits in every pocket.
"Kick Foooty around the world". With the travellers in mind, we had the idea to literally kick the Foooty around the world. By sharing posts on social media with your Foooty with the hashtag #kickfoooty and with your location. With this hashtag you can see where the Foooty's have been and you will get some inspiration to travel as well.
To start the campaign we had the idea to give away free Foooty's to travellers. As they travel, they can give it to a fellow traveller. So the journey of the Foooty will go on. You can post a picture on your Instagram with your Foooty and with the country you're in. You can give each Foooty a number so you can track your Foooty, maybe it will be in China or in Spain!

I made this illustration in Photoshop while experimenting with my Wacom tablet, I made this illustration with the inspiration of women empowerment.
De Fietsersbond in Utrecht asked us to think of an app that will motivate the dutch people to cycle more. So we created Fusic. With this app you can play your music while cycling. But, the speed of the music depends on the speed you are cycling on. "Cycle the right speed, for the right speed of the music!" was our slogan. This will make it more fun to bike and also to stay motivated to stay on the right speed.
This is my first motion graphics animation. I made it in Adobe After effects. The video is about a boy who wants to be in space, he decides to try to reach there, but it doesn't work the first time. My message in this video was that you shouldn't give up easily.
With a classmate, we had to make an app that would improve the user experience of a subject. We chose to focus on the user experience of travelling by train as a disabled person. We made this animation video to show the problem, and to give a solution.
I made this logo for the website of "werkgroep Utrecht Leon". This is a group that plants trees in Leon, Nicaragua. You can check their website at: utrechtleon.nl
I made this with illustrator. I was inspired by the comic art and decided to make a self portrait in this version.
I also like to make some drawings, I have an instragam dedicated to my drawings, you can check it out here :).
For a project in Nicaragua I made this flyer. It was an announcement for people to join the long walk from the city León to the beach of Las peñitas.
I made this logo for a Bed and breakfast in Nicaragua!
I like to take some pictures every now and then. Here are some of my favourite pictures
